I proudly reverse jinxed the hell out of UT and Duke. Until Saturday, Duke had lost to NC State 11 straight times and hadn’t won an ACC road game in nearly 6 years. So I’m proud to have reverse jinxed my beloved Blue Devils even if it meant losing points in TCCFP. Oh, and Tim Tebow proved once again to be the Son of God.
Last week Jeff only missed one game at it was valued at 2, so he wound up with 51pts. This is the second week in a row that he was the weekly scoring leader and he’s now in third overall. But the larger point is that everyone is pretty much bunched together. Also, important note: THERE IS A THURSDAY NIGHT GAME SO GET YOUR PICKS IN BEFORE THEN
Weekly Scores: Jeff 51pts (9-1), Jared 45 (8-2), Shuler 41 (8-2), Spears 39 (8-2), Mao 39 (8-2), Derrick 31 (7-3), Trey 29 (8-2), Jim 13 (5-5), Bryan 7 (5-5)
Totals (now we have a game on our hands)
Mao – 162
Trey – 146
Jeff – 142
Jared – 140
Spears – 128
Derrick – 118
Shuler – 106
Jim – 90
Bryan – 79
Our teams (Duke and UT have byes so they can celebrate their wins)
Ohio St (7) @ Purdue
Northwestern @ Michigan St – Bryan, I’m starting to hate that we have to pick NW games
Wake Forest @ Clem(p)son
Virginia @ Maryland
Virginia Tech (4) @ Georgia Tech (19) – instant classic
College GameDay Game
Oklahoma (20) v Texas (3) – the Red River Shoot Out is played in Dallas, TX
Filler
Cincinnati (8)@ South Florida (21) – Thursday night game
South Carolina (22) @ Alabama (2) – SC might be sneakily good
USC (6) @ Notre Dame (25) - Two pretenders to the throne
Iowa (7) @ Wisconsin – the Big 11 has a lot of teams with fraudulently good records (but they’re still better than the ACC)
This is a ridiculous week:
10 – Ohio State
9 – Alabama
8 – Virginia
7 – Iowa
6 – Cincinnati
5 – Michigan State
4 – Southern Cal
3 – Clemson
2 – Texas
1 – Virginia Tech
I’m already regretting my Virginia pick, but they’ve been awesome of late and Maryland is truly dreadful. Also, anyone know Sam Bradford’s status for the Texas game? I try not to look at any news before making my picks.
10 – OSU
9 – Michigan State
8 – Alabama
7 – Southern Cal
6 – Clemson
5 – Iowa
4 – UVA
3 – GT
2 – Cincinnati
1 – Oklahoma
I agree, this week is really hard. Ohio State and Alabama are the only “locks” and both of those schools blow goats so you never know. I think Bradford is back so I had to take Oklahoma. I had to go with GT at home, but I’m already starting to second guess it.
This is the no faith week. I have no faith in at least 5 of the teams I’m forced to pick.
10 – OSU
9 – Alabama
8 – Michigan St (No fait pick #1)
7 – USC (No faith pic #2)
6 – Clempson (No faith pick #3, but this is a must win for them)
5 – Oklahoma (Texas is awful, nearly lost to Colorado and Wyoming, and Bradford is back to form)
4 – Cincy (No faith pick #4 bc USF is at home)
3 – Wisconsin (I think Iowa is overrated, Wisc is at home, but no faith pick#5)
2 – UVA (You go with the hot team)
1 – Virginia Tech (Jim, enjoy the reverse jinx)
my betting lock o’ th week: BC-2.5 at home versus NC St. STate sucks and all of BC’s wins this year have come at home. They surely win by at least a field goal.
Already, I wish I could put uva at 5 and move everyone else down one and maybe change the Wisconsin pick to Iowa.
But no, I’ll live with what I have. Fuck, this is going to be three subpar weeks in a row and possibly mean I fall to fourth or something.
10 – Ohio State
9 – Alabama
8 – So. Cal.
7 – Michigan St
6 – Iowa
5 – Texas
4 – VT
3 – Clemson
2 – Cinncinnati
1 – UVA
10 – Ohio State
9 – Alabama
8 – USC
7 – Michigan State
6 – Iowa
5 – Texas
4 – Virginia Tech
3 – Cincy
2 – UVA
1 – Clemson
AS ESPN would call it, separation week…damn we’ll see who is for real, and I bet this week will practically decide the 2-3 title contenders (Texas, BAMA, VT???), and i really which boise state had lost last night, anyone see the TCU coach get so pissed at the blown penalty-I thought he was going to rip off the lineman’s neck and shit down it…
OSU=10
USC=9
Cinn=8
Mich St=7
BAMA=6
Iowa=5
Texas=4
UVA=3
Clemson=2
VT=1
Wait, problem with those previous picks:
Correct picks:
10 – OSU
9 – USC
8 – Texas
7 – VT
6 – Maryland
5 – BAMA
4 – Wisconsine
3 – Michigan State
2 – Clemson
1 – South Florida
somehow mine never made it…
I agree with Trey that I am beginning to resent Northwestern.
I also start a motion that UVA should be removed.
10- Ohio State
9- Alabama
8-USC
7-Iowa
6-Clemson
5-Texas
4-VT
3-Cincinnatti
2-Michigan State
1-UVA
sorry if your comment didn’t go through. it had it marked as spam. all these people had their picks in before hand so everyone except jim managed to get their picks in before the first game.
jim, the fairest thing to do is either start you off at -5 and then when you make your picks don’t have a 5 pointer.
or if anyone has other suggestions let me know.
Let’s remove UVA completely. They’re bringing down my points average, and the Hoos notoriously blow anyway.
Hey now, let’s speak more kindly of the suddenly interesting Wahoos. There are several teams on this list who notoriously blow (Duke, Clemson, Northwestern).
We need UVA in there to tempt Mao so that he might pick them against better judgement the way I do with Duke, Jeff does with UT, and Jim does with GT.
Without UVA he can be completely rational and that’s no good.
Haha, that’s a good point.
Northwestern is dominating Mich St and Bradford is out for Oklahoma. So I am in a bigtime pinch. At least I might be the only one who called Wisconsin over Iowa.
Apart from Ohio State, which of course we all missed at 10 (what a bunch of effing chokers, again), basically everyone is having a nice day picking so far…
UVA scoring to go up 20-9 and USC stopping Notre Dame happened almost concurrently. HUGE moment in time for my picks.
I don’t even want to add mine up.
But my ability to reverse teams I like is strong.
