First of all, there is no basketball God. Duke can’t keep up with unc to save their life and College of Charleston beat Davidson in the conference tournament semifinals only to lose to Chattanooga in the championship game. So CofC first ends Davidson’s 40 some odd game home winning streak to become the first SoCon team to beat them in like a year (this year Davidson only lost two conference games; first to CofC, then to the Citadel in a game where Curry was hurt and didn’t play), then we knock them out of the tournament and Chattanooga slips in the big dance. Oh, and the tournament was on Chattanooga’s home court, so they had that going for them. Unbe-freaking-lievable.
Anyway, I’ve decided that we should have a bracket challenge for the ACC Tournament. This probably won’t work because there aren’t enough teams and I’m probably too distraught to prevent myself making unc lose in the first game they play. By the way, if Florida State beats unc, I will take all the FSU football players’ tests for an entire year as thanks. The ball is your court FSU.
So click on the picture below (which I made, all by myself) to see the bracket and then make your picks in the comment section.

I’ll take in the first round:
Miami
Clem(p)son
Maryland
BC
Then in round two I’ll force myself not to make unc lose:
unc
FSU
Maryland
Duke
In round three I’ll give in and make unc lose:
FSU
Duke
And in the championship I’ll go with (big surprise):
Duke
1. Virginia tech, clemson, Maryland, virginia
2. Unc, Florida state, Maryland, duke
3. Unc, maryland
4. Unc
Love the UVA pick. I think there’s a gentlemen’s agreement that when filling out brackets if you pick the favorite to win you have to have at least one out on a limb upset pick. So well done with the UVA counter balance to unc.
But here’s my thing, I can see Duke losing to BC or Wake, but I feel like if we got Maryland, we’d beat them. There are 4 teams I’m comfortable and confident when Duke plays them and Maryland is one (aside from the rivalry factor). But I guess we’ll find out.
Well my UVA pick is purely a homer pick. I can’t not take them to win one game, even if they probably won’t.
I think Maryland plays a good ACC tournament because they’re in no way guaranteed an NCAA spot if they lose right away. Maybe they don’t win anything at all but they’re a decent team and will now have huge motivation. Plus, I couldn’t pick a UNC-Duke final. In reality it almost never actually happens. There’s always someone random that does well (like NCSU a few years ago).
1st round: Miami (VT turned into shit in the 2nd half of hte ACC games, but I expected that), clemson, Maryland, BC
2nd round: UNC, Clemson (I like them to rebound from getting their ass handed to them last time against FSU), Maryland upetting Wake (too streaky), Duke
3rd round: UNC and Duke (it will happen again)
4th round: UNC
I don’t know if Seth Greenberg is a bad game manager or what but VT has three really good players and somehow they ruined their season by falling apart over the last two weeks of the season.
By the way, we all picked Maryland even though they have one good player and he’s a constant risk to flip out and get tossed out of the game.
1. VT, Clemson, Maryland, UVA
2. UNC, Clemson, Wake, Duke
3. UNC, Wake
4. UNC
Yeah! Another UVA pick!!
I am 0 for 2, but I love that Clinch killed Clemson. You know why Clemson choked under teh pressure of a tournament?
BECAUSE THEY DON’T SCHEDULE ANY HARD TEAMS OUT OF THE CONFERENCE. MAYBE IF YOU PLAYED SOMEONE OTHER THAN LIBERTY YOUR TEAM WOULD KNOW HOW TO HANDLE BIG GAME PRESSURE.
Also, the fact that the Georgia Dome is empty makes me smile. Good job John Swofford. It takes an exceptional man to ruin a storied conference.
Haha good call. That and it’s a home game for GT. We should’ve known better. Clemson is dudu.
